NOW EXTENDED TO APRIL 29, 2020!!!

We are SO excited that you are interested in joining us for the 2020-2021 school year!

Fairfield Choirs are consistently recognized for their achievements and high level quality of performance. The Fairfield Choral Music Program supports both traditional choral music and popular show music. We believe that by achieving excellence in the performing arts, students can and will strive for excellence in all areas. We are committed to making the experience that our students, parents, and audience members have is exciting, professional, and entertaining. Simply put, the Fairfield Choral Music Department is where tradition and excellence meets innovation and opportunity.

Due to COVID-19, we will be holding auditions online this year using a platform called Flipgrid. We will explain everything thoroughly so that you will be all set for your audition. If you have any questions or problems with submitting an audition online, please e-mail Mr. Mercer at mercer_m@fairfieldcityschools.com. We don't want you to not try out because you don't have access to the internet or are having trouble submitting. We will be more than happy to help out! Please pay careful attention to all of the information presented as it will help you have a successful experience and audition.

Please Note: You only need to submit ONE vocal audition and ONE dance audition (show choir only) even if you are doing multiple choirs.

FAQ's

How are students selected? Students are selected on many factors. The typical factors like skill set and ability to perform are used, but also things like behavior, work ethic, and commitment also play roles. Another two equally important elements for our team are curiosity and flexibility. Our directors try to figure out if each performer has a learning curve, and if they’re able to confidently tackle new challenges on the spot. There’s something magical about a group in which every single member is striving to better themselves, to imagine an even higher plane of performance. With a group like that, every rehearsal and every performance feels fresh.

Should I dress up for my audition? That is completely up to you. Some people like to put their best foot forward. However, if you are doing a dance audition, you should be in clothes that you can comfortably move in.

What if I am having trouble submitting a video? Contact Mr. Mercer.

Who watches the audition videos? The videos are only watched by the team of directors/staff.

Can we get feedback on the audition? Yes, but not until two weeks after results are posted. You can e-mail or schedule a time to video chat about your audition. We are happy to give feedback on the actual audition, but will not speak about the audition in comparison to another student's audition.

Is financial aid available? A VERY limited amount of financial aid to the program is available. If you want to apply for financial aid, then please fill out the online Financial Aid Request Form.

Can I double (do more than one show choir)? All students in grades 7-12 are eligible to double as long as they have been in show choir for at least one year OR have direct permission from the directors.

When will audition results be posted? Audition results will be posted on the Fairfield Choirs website by May 1st, 2020.

Is there an informational meeting or gathering that we will need to be at if we are in the program? All students who are accepted into the program are expected to attend the Opening Picnic on a date to be announced (due to COVID-19) with at least one of their parent/guardians.
